A free VST that can stand for the “best free VST recreation of a Moog synth” title. Sounds good, works for Windows (32 bit). In response, Moog and Korg have both made certain synth apps free for a limited time. Moog’s Minimoog Model D iOS app is now free, and it cost $4.99 when it was introduced in 2018. The BFS-1 is a VST emulation of the famous Bode frequency shifter. The original unit was available as an expensive module for the Moog™ modular system. The minimoog V and the moog modular V are both superb. The minimonsta by G-Force is also an excellent choice and unlike Arturia's synths does not need a dongle. Minimogue va is not bad for a free synth, but it's tweakability is more limited and the filters are not as realistic, still it costs nothing and has some useable sounds for sure. Arturia, in partnership with Bob Moog, have made it possible with a faithful reproduction of one of the most famous series of synthesizers: Moog Modular. Because it is modular, the Moog Modular V.
The Minimoog ! one of the synth that had the biggest impact in history of synths.
This is a difficult task to emulate the moog sound with virtual synth, you have to take care of the electronic components and their characteristics.

Based on the Richard Brooks synthedit sources of “mogue”, this is a very nice VST emulation of the famous miniMoog synthesizer.
It’s a Synthedit creation : It works for Windows and 32 bit VST hosts.
You can also found a polyphonic version (MinimogueLuxus VST).
The three oscillators are here, and the filter does the job.
A simple arpeggiator is also a nice addition.

It’s not really a Minimoog emulation, but with its two oscillators and the filter set on “MINI” , it does “Moog-ish sounds”. The quality is superior. Don’t forget to check out the Taurus emulation on the same site too !
ASynth VST is donationware, and still one of the best VSTi.

This is an oooold VST plugin created with Synthedit about 10 years ago.
It has some playing/retrigger bugs, some parameters are not well “calibrated” and the presets don’t do it justice.
But with some tweaking, it can do nice leads and bass !

Audio plugins have always tried to replicate and recreate the effects and results that the analog ones offered. The biggest battle to offer realistic results is in the case of audio synthesizers.

A good emulation of the Moog synthesizer
Its interface mimics that of the Moog – a monophonic analog modular synthesizer that arguably marked the birth of electronic music. Modular V3, though a digital tool, looks as sturdy and powerful as the real Moog synthesizer.
The digital version comes with 9 oscillators, 2 LFOs, 3 filter slots, 6 envelopes, a sequencer, mixer and a lot of parameters that pitch in when it comes to creating, shaping and perfecting a sound.
Modular V3 has its knobs in a well defined and thought out structure. Everything is neatly placed and easy to spot, even though there are tens of buttons all around. It might seem a bit too much at first but practice makes perfect.
How it works
The synthesizer packs a lot of punch and uses TAE (True Analog Emulation), a technology created to reproduce analog circuits but in a way that it doesn't hog your system resources. Using of TAE ensures stability and allows Modular V3 to help you generate any sound you can imagine, from angelic-chorus to something grimy you’d put in a horror movie soundtrack.
Modular V3, unlike the analog synthesizer, comes with a very generous amount of professionally designed presets that you can use to speed things up with your tracks. Moreover, you are free to fine-tune them to get the exact effect you need and save them as your own.
In closing, Modular V3 is truly a well-designed audio tool which you can certainly use without limits to synthesize any sound.
